For many years, I have written, taught and developed projects around subjects that appear to belong to different fields: media, education, technologies, childhood, bodies, attention and communities. Whenever I tried to keep them separate, something important was lost. Much of what interests me happens where these subjects meet.
I chose the name Ecologie to make room for that plurality, including connections I do not yet know how to name. An educational practice meets a body, a place, a personal history. A technology enters a family and changes how its members reach one another. Following these encounters means allowing one subject to lead to another.
This site also answers a practical need. Too much of my work has remained in notes, lectures, conversations and texts in progress. I want to make some of it available to read and share. A question does not always need a final answer before it can become public; sometimes meeting readers is part of what helps an idea develop.
Here, short pieces will sit alongside longer work, ongoing projects and questions I keep returning to. The links between pages will matter as much as the pages themselves. This remains one of the possibilities of the Web that I value most: one thought can lead to another without forcing everything into a single, straight line.
Ecologie begins with a few texts. It will also grow through the connections we discover together.
